MAXA Origins

In October 2005, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
announced a national award for manufacturing excellence as part of
Singapore’s efforts to develop the manufacturing sector.
MAXA was incepted in 2006 with its first awards for the
manufacturing
industry. Since then, MAXA has awarded 11 winners for different award
categories. In addition, 31 participating companies have also
benefitted from the consultancy-style deep dives during the MAXA
journey.
It has since evolved from an award of excellence in
Singapore’s
manufacturing sector into a process of recognising excellence and
sharing industry best practices with the local manufacturing community.

Yokogawa Electric Asia Pte Ltd awarded overall winner for MAXA Award.

The
Growth Award was introduced to honour high growth local
manufacturing companies that continually demonstrate manufacturing
excellence and innovation, and possess qualities for sustainability.
MAXA and SQC applications were integrated to draw upon
the synergies between manufacturing excellence and business excellence
MAXA Excellence
Community (MEC) launched as a knowledge-sharing platform for
participants to learn from past MAXA winners.

Singapore Manufacturers’ Federation (SMa) became the fourth partner in
MAXA. The award’s application and assessment processes were integrated
with SPRING’s Singapore Quality Class (SQC).

Inaugural MAXA names Seagate as the winner of its first Overall
Excellence Award.

Inception of The Manufacturing Excellence Award (MAXA) as a partnership
between the Economic Development Board (EDB), McKinsey & Company
and Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA).
